A BLOOMING EXPRERIENCE
The Manuka tree has an exceptionally brief flowering period, lasting only 4 to 6 weeks per year. This means bees have a very limited time to collect its incredible nectar. This is why Manuka honey is such a rare and valuable ingredient.
AN EXCEPTIONAL INGREDIENT
Manuka Honey is a monofloral honey with a unique composition. This rare, high-quality product is derived from the Manuka bush native to New Zealand, also known as Wild Manuka or Leptospermum scoparium (the botanical name for Manuka).
A relative of Tea Tree, this shrub is endemic to New Zealand and grows wildly in remote regions.
A UNIQUE COMPOSITION OF MANUKA HONEY
Manuka honey is considered exceptional due to its botanical origins, providing numerous skin benefits.
Its potency is attributed to a molecule called methylglyoxal (MGO). There are several indices, including the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) and the French version, IAA® (Indice d’Activité et d’Authenticité), which measure its activity and authenticity.
SKIN CARE VIRTUES KNOWN FOR CENTURIES
Manuka honey has been used for centuries
Rich in nutrients and vitality, it boasts powerful properties. Its diverse virtues and benefits for the human body make it stand out. Internal use: oral care. External use: promotes skin repair. When applied to the skin, it effectively addresses superficial skin issues and has a positive impact on various skin problems.
DIRECT MANUKA HARVEST SUPPLY CHAIN
The Manuka IAA® honey we incorporate into our formulas is exclusively harvested in New Zealand, in the regions of Coromandel, East Cape, Northland, and Waikato on the North Island, and Canterbury, Marlborough, and Otago on the South Island.
We regularly visit New Zealand to assess the volume and quality of the year’s harvests, explore and rediscover the incredible Manuka terroir, and spend time with our partner beekeepers. We are one of the few non-New Zealand companies able to source directly from the origin, ensuring the security of our genuine Manuka honey supply and selecting the finest batches. This guarantees the quality and authenticity of our products.
ARTISANAL PRODUCTION
Manuka honey is barrelled, sampled, and sent to an independent laboratory to measure its activity.
We then import these barrels of raw honey and entrust them to our French beekeeper partner located in Loire-Atlantique for “creaming.” We have developed a trusted partnership with this artisan, who has the unique skill of cold blending. Thanks to this technique, our Manuka honey acquires a creamy and smooth texture that you can find in all our Cicamanuka cosmetics.
